You wouldn’t expect a baseball player to excel in the game without a good coach. You certainly wouldn’t expect a player to become top of their game after watching a few powerpoint presentations. Just because someone has explained the theory doesn’t mean they’ll be able to put it into practice back on the field.
Video professional development is nothing new. But, video PD that teachers actively choose to use is something different.
I have been involved in the delivery of PD to schools for a number of years but, if I'm honest, I was never been truly satisfied with the results. I was a good trainer; clear, communicative, and enthusiastic, I differentiated my instruction and I always got excellent feedback. So, what was the problem?
